In the town of Tequila, in western Mexico, there is a small and discreet cantina called La Capilla. This cantina is the home of the Batanga, a simple drink created in the 1950s by Don Javier Delgado Corona, the bar’s owner. The Batanga is simple: it’s nothing more than tequila, Coca-Cola, and fresh lime juice, served in a tall glass with a salted rim. But as Don Javier would say, its flavor is not just in the ingredients—it’s the large knife he uses to mix the cocktail that is the secret to the perfect Batanga.

This reposado starts with a note of vanilla that stands out on the palate, followed by subtle hints of almond, citrus, sweet caramel, and cedar wood. Despite its aging, the agave remains present, making it ideal for cocktails. Its finish is pleasantly dry when sipped directly, providing a refined and satisfying experience.
